Pillars of Wisdom Seniors Ministry

Harvest Christian Center’s Pillars of Wisdom Senior’s Ministry was birth in January 2003. Its motto is “bringing heaven down to earth in the lives of seniors.” It is adapted from the Lord’s Prayer, which states thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. This ministry’s foundational scriptural is Ezekiel 36:11 which promises restoration and rebuilding; renewing and abundance and the assurance that the Lord God is their God.

The goal is to motivate seniors to love God passionately, to embrace their lives fully, to understand the role God has for them to play, and to make the best contribution possible doing what God has called them to do. It is to encourage them to love God with everything that is within, and to allow Him to mature them and enlarge Himself in them.

The Pillars of Wisdom Seniors Ministry is faith based, and provides psycho sociological and spiritual support to seniors. It is community focused and its activities are generally held outside the four walls of the church. This ministry embraces Harvest Christian Center’s eight foundations - missions, prayer & fasting, fellowship, worship, evangelism, God’s word, signs and wonders.

Activities include special events and holiday celebrations, birthday recognitions and celebrations. A special yearly event for the ministry has been the annual collaborative with the Spirit of Chicago Cruise line. It is a time of relaxation and an activity that has been enjoyed by those who have participated. The Pillars of Wisdom provides its members benefits such as home and hospital visits along with follow up phone calls. This ministry provides its members the opportunity to co minister to each other through phone calls and visitations.

The Pillars of Wisdom uses the small group concept, and therefore there is mutual accountability and support. The ministry meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at a local restaurant.
